what is your morality

my cblog for this week is to discuss morality.
Yes punishments are bad and yes you shouldn't break the law and yes there are justifiable situations but my question is what morality are you? and if you are postconventional what situations are ok to break the law and kill, steal, ect.

That is my question. What morality are you? what type of situation would cause your morality to change?

  1. I believe that I am in the postconventional stage of morality. How did I develop into this stage? I believe that it stems from my relationship with God and my family. It is hard for me to imagine how people reach this stage without those two things so I am interested in reading what others say as well.

Even though I believe myself to be in the last stage of morality, I do find myself wondering whether or not I (and others) sometimes operate under the previous two stages. Many times people are only looking out for themselves (which would be acting under preconventional morality) and other times people act only to obey laws (conventional morality). It seems to me that postconventional morality is basically a combination of the two that has tied together with one's ethical principles.

Another question I have is that if conventional morality is supposed to be focused on caring for others and upholding laws and it is thought to be during early adolescence, then why are so many adolescence still self centered? Have they just not reached the conventional stage yet? Maybe these stages need to be re-evaluated...

  2. my answer to your question is that it is taking longer to get into to conventional stage IE teenagers are more childish now and therefore are not in the preconventional stage I see it now as the people who are really in preconventional stage are younger children who don't want to do anything wrong and adults who were educated under the rules. so the development of morality has changed it seems that it is no longer pre to con to post. Does that help your understanding?
